Kirklees Council Confirms Next Steps for Demolition of Berry Brow High Rise Flats

Kirklees Council have been getting ready for the next stage of the demolition of well-known high-rise flats in Berry Brow, Bishop's Court and Holme Park Court. Contractors are now starting phase one: setting up the site. Residents will first notice a large, hoarded perimeter being installed around the area. These hoardings will surround the building but still allow safe access along Parkgate and to the bus stop.
New Dewsbury leisure centre a major step closer after budget agreement

Kirklees Council’s plans for a new sports and leisure centre to serve Dewsbury and Batley have taken a major step forward. At last week’s Budget Council Meeting (Wed 25 Feb 2026), £35m was secured to build the new centre. With funding now in place, the council has already moved to the next phase — working with leisure and health experts to shape the centre’s facilities.
